Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
A view of traditional Lavvu huts in Ankerede on the shores of Stora Blasjon Lake. These temporary shelters, essentially wooden tipis, were the shelter for the Sami families and clans that herded reindeer across the tundra plains of Lappland. Though the Sami clans still continue to tend to huge herds of reindeer, the need for these traditional moveable dwellings has, in our modern world, fallen by the wayside and been replaced by regular ol' houses and pick-up trucks or snowmobiles in the winter.
It probably started with a young teenager looking at NatGeo pictures and deciding that he wanted to be the next Galen Rowell. First published at seventeen, first exhibition at twenty-one, photography suddenly took a third-row back seat for a couple of decades as life unravelled in unforeseeable directions.. A couple of decades later, the re-entry to the initial passion was a decade of extreme mountaineering and the resulting photos becoming the foundation for a stock photography business. Age, not stopping at my doorstep, led me to shift priorities back to what I once dreamed of doing. Living in a small RV since 2020, I currently travel throughout Europe at a leisurely pace while stopping here and there to playfully relearn a craft I once...
